A webcast for change in the developing world
The AKDN Speakers Series hosted a live webcast for volunteers wishing to offer a nazrana of time and knowledge. Moderated by Ali Velshi, it featured keynote speaker, Dr Tom Kessinger, General Manager of the Aga Khan Foundation and Deputy Chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network.

Earlier this year, 114 delegates from 20 countries participated in the Heritage Discovery Programme. This Golden Jubilee International Programme focused on the exploration of Ismaili heritage through travel in the Middle East, Central and South Asia and East Africa.
Illustrated publication on Ismaili history launched in Kenya by The Institute of Ismaili Studies
Kenya hosted the first major launch of an Institute of Ismaili Studies publication outside North America and Europe. The authors and staff of The Institute recounted the journey of the making of the book, and its importance at this juncture in Ismaili history.

The Syrian Prime Minister accompanied Mawlana Hazar Imam to the Aleppo airport to see him off, and leaders of the Jamat and the AKDN in Syria gathered to wish Hazar Imam farewell as his Golden Jubilee visit to Syria drew to a close.

It has been nearly seven years since Mawlana Hazar Imam last visited the Syrian Jamat, and the enthusiasm and excitement are building. Over 100 000 people are expected to attend Darbars in Salamieh and Al-Khawabi, including Jamati members from around the world.
